Ruling is proof that government can be the peoples’ tool for good, justice and equality
LANSING — Progress Michigan joined the chorus of millions celebrating today’s ruling guaranteeing marriage equality for LGBT Americans. The following statement can be attributed to Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan:
“Today is a historic day for the LGBT community and for equality advocates. This ruling is more than an end of a legal proceeding. It is a testament to the fact that even in the face of adversity, love and equality will always prevail. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, ‘The time is always right to do what is right’ and today those who have fought for this victory can be proud that the court finally did what is right. Progress Michigan is proud to celebrate this decision with our LGBT friends and their allies. We can finally and definitively say, love wins.”
