Tomorrow night, Congressman Dan Benishek is set to headline a $1,000 per host “Scotch and Cigars” fundraiser with the elite in Washington, D.C. Hosted by the One Nation PAC, attendees will mingle in a smoke filled room, drink scotch, and discuss the best strategies for maximizing corporate profits.
Benishek has shown time and time again he is out of touch with the struggles of every day Michigan residents. Last year, Dr. Benishek voted for the Ryan plan to dismantle Medicare and change it to a voucher-based system; increase the eligibility age; and increase out-of-pocket costs for 111,000 individuals in the first Congressional District between the ages of 44 and 54.
Benishek currently represents eight of the 10 counties in Michigan with the highest rate of uninsured residents. He also wants to repeal President Obama’s Affordable Care Act, which is already saving seniors and young people money and making the health care system more efficient. Benishek and other elected officials need to put the interests of Michigan’s workers and families above those of the greedy Wall Street CEOs and corporations who crashed our economy.
$1,000 to smoke and drink? How about a $1,000 for the thousands of Michiganders in Dan Benishek’s district struggling to make ends meet? Sign our petition calling on Congressman Dan Benishek to donate the cost of admission to a local health care clinic in Michigan’s first Congressional District.
