Allow a vote to extend help Michigan’s unemployed!

We don’t have to hear the news to know that times are tough in Michigan. Our state is leading the nation in unemployment and more than a third of jobless workers cannot collect unemployment. That’s more than 232,000 people.

Yet State Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop is turning down $138 million in federal economic recovery funds that would cover benefits for thousands of additional workers who have lost their jobs, by not allowing legislation to come to a vote in the State Senate!

No hearings. No votes. Nothing. Just the icy stare of uncaring politicians playing politics with real people’s lives.

Tell Senator Bishop to let the Senate vote on SB 444 and SB 445. Passing those Democratic-sponsored bills would provide American Economic and Recovery Act funding to cover the entire cost of extending unemployment benefits to workers who right now do not qualify for benefits.

Please take action now. Michigan’s families are counting on all of us.
