Change to Win is a partnership of seven unions and six million workers committed to building a new movement of working people equipped to meet the challenges of the global economy and restore the American Dream in the 21st century: a paycheck that can support a family, affordable health care, a secure retirement and dignity on the job.
The seven partner unions are: International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Laborers' International Union of North America, Service Employees International Union, UNITE HERE, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, United Farm Workers of America, and United Food and Commercial Workers International Union.
Change to Win is building a year-round political program to elect candidates who will promote and institute policies that will restore the American Dream in the 21st century for America’s workers including a paycheck that supports a family, affordable health care, a secure retirement and the right to form a union on the job.
An applicant should possess:
* More than 4 years of experience in field organizing for union, community or political campaigns.
* Exceptional judgment in handling sensitive organizational issues.
* Experience doing field work in elections for candidates, campaigns or organizations.
* Skills necessary to hold trainings for activists.
* Ability to work closely with union staff and leadership on collaborative issues.
* Ability to manage a large budget.
* Exposure to fresh and innovative ideas for organizing and mobilizing.
* Self-direction and initiative to move a new program forward.
* Flexibility to travel overnight and work long and irregular hours.
Responsibilities to include:
* Managing Change to Win’s political field efforts for the 2008 elections in Michigan.
* Working closely with affiliate unions to develop, implement, and coordinate Change to Win political field efforts, including but not limited to: worksite outreach, days of action, voter registration, phone and mail coordination, and walk programs.
* Monitoring progress in reaching quantifiable field goals and developing tactics to reach goals, and working with affiliate’s to provide assistance on training as requested.
* Overseeing campaign budget in the state.
* Coordinating regular meetings with affiliate unions.
* Participating in political department trainings and staff meetings.
* Coordinating efforts with allies.
* Communicate regularly with campaigns of CtW supported candidates where appropriate.
